SALTWATER FISHING ADVENTURE

T506 spent the weekend Saltwater Fishing, Dolphin Watching and more at Jekyll Island.  The trip included lots of time for fishing in the surf!

This time of year scouts fished for: Black Tip Shark, Bonnet Head Shark, Sting Rays, Redfish, Sea Trout, Flounder, Black Drum, Kingfish, Spanish Mackerel, Blue Crabs.

Working in pairs, Scout also hde the opportunity to use seine nets (one on each end of the net) to catch fish in the surf.

In addition to fishing, the trip includes a class at the 4-H Center. where we took a tour of the North Shore Petrified Tree field.  A great learning opportunity paired with a great climbing opportunity!

Accommodations were in dorm-like cabins, a far cry from roughing it. Dinner was family style with some creative electric cooking (no fires or flames allowed this time).
